He-Man

One Third of Castle Eternia, flanked by further awesomeness

The He-Man collection in the Preserve is largely still lost in the archives, at least in part. Pictured at the top of this page is a woefully incomplete Castle Eternia, and two other boxed sets. I know that the other two towers of Eternia are in storage someplace, and it is a great goal to find them and set up the entire playset once more. It really holds the title of largest and most awesomely absurd playset of all time, even featuring a working monorail!

The series features a fair amount of diversity and depth, and I have my doubts that I in any way have a proper subset of the collection, but at least do have many of the larger pieces, and some key mail aways! Now also, thanks to the sudden resurgance of many classic TV shows on DVD it is possible to get He-Man episodes, though I suspect for a limited time, much like the Transformers DVDs which have already gone out of print.

I still remember vividly, as if it had just happened this morning, the Christmas day when I unwrapped Eternia. It took at least the rest of the day to puzzle out all the parts, and to assemble it, and it was awe inspiring, being larger then me when the entire scope of all three towers and monorail was considered together! It requires a large dedicated space to incorporate it into any display or play area, but I dedicated that space as long as was possible, and aim to do so again! The box art is, as you can imagine, spectacular, being from my favorite period in the history of this countries toy designing industry, and it will need to grace the halls of the Preserve in a place of honor next to the completed playset.
