Another long day at werk; but I'm doing my best to spend not only 15 hours at work in front of a computer, but another 3 or 4 when I get home. YEAH! Still working on some new stuff, and have pushed and pulled items around a bit. Of course this site is still being thought out and is changing subtly (for instance you may remember that this wasn't gray yesterday...) but until hausmaus busts out with some clazyness, I'll probably stick to my austere interface for nau. TastyKake tribute #1 and robots who love Tab, all this week, on Town Talk. Posted by charlie on April 13th 2001, 03:28 PM Leave Comment Share |

There's nothing like coming home from a 14 hour day at the office with the satisfaction of a job well done and a couple of beers under my belt. Posted by charlie on April 12th 2001, 03:27 PM Leave Comment Share |

Tonight I went to see The Most Terrible Time in My Life which is really best described by the folks at Cornell Cinema as "a stylish homage to American noir and Japanese gangster films of the 50s and 60s." I can't really recommend this film enough. Go see it. Well, only go see it if you like detective movies, and Film Noir, and have a penchant for Japanese films....well, ok, maybe most people should stay away from this film, since it has that distinct feel that I've come to recognize after years of making people sit through things like The Disorderlies of a movie which I found great entertainment in but which most other people would think me that much more mad for enjoying. Oh, and watch out for those radioactive tastykakes...they'll getcha. Posted by charlie on April 11th 2001, 03:24 PM Leave Comment Share |

What? Nothing new tonight? Well, rest assured that I'm working on several new articles, and that there are a number of exciting new additions to the Preserve which have yet to see the spin of electrons. Also, instead of taking pictures of my stash tonight, I went to see this Indian film Such a Long Journey which is definitely worth a look. There's also the little task of fully explaining my haul from the qMart, so I'll probably itemize that stuff. Also keep on the lookout for a Battle Beasts Wing, as well as articles from hausmaus and surpriseattackninja. Posted by charlie on April 10th 2001, 12:34 PM Leave Comment Share |

Well, that took longer than I thought it would, but I've finally posted the story of the trip to the qMart. I still have to design a less austere interface for the articles section, but that's in the works. Feedback is, of course, always welcome. Today is a proud day at the Game Preserve, as it marks the establishment of the Hunt Intellivision Wing. Thanks to a generous donation by Conor Hunt of a tremendous collection of gear, including a base unit, loads of games and booklets, and even the voice synthesis module, the preserve is one step closer to nirvana tonight. What could possibly make a trip to Philly to shop for toys and video games at a dirty flea market more exciting? How about getting pulled over by the 5-0 in an R/V lot, blowing out the rear drum brakes on a Pathfinder, having said brakes field stripped and repaired by a group of 60 year old ace mechanics, and eating french fries made with a Craftsman drill? A full report is forthcoming - and it's worth it. For a glimpse, take a look at the loot above. Posted by charlie on April 7th 2001, 12:31 PM Leave Comment Share |

Corporate not-sponsorship is growing rapidly at the Preserve having doubled from yesterdays level of 1. There is a lot of new material that is just begging to be posted, but I'll have to get to that on Sunday. Of immediate import is a trip to Philly tomorrow where I will be able to secure more Tastykakes direct from the source (or close to it) and I will take my first trip to the Quakertown Flea Market (the qMart). This is apparently a place of wonder and intrigue, and with any luck I should return with *lots* of fun new additions to the Preserve. Today marks the first real launch of the Preserve. I've spent the better part of my life as a collector, first with my father's generous support (hence the name of this place) and now with my own. Thanks go out to hausmaus for his (let's assume ongoing) graphics contributions and advice. A physical incarnation of the Preserve will exist this fall when I move into a house I'm renting. At that point, I'll be able to gather together what I remember to be a tremendous collection. It is currently scattered across several households, and many storage bins, and it will be my goal to present it here in some yet to be determined sane format. In the near term, I'll display what I have in my apartment; a drop in the busket, I assure you. Posted by charlie on April 4th 2001, 12:24 PM Leave Comment Share |
